Acupuncture is the gentle stimulation of 6-18 prescribed points on the body with whisker-thin, sterile single-use needles to address imbalances of the nervous, hormonal, and musculoskeletal systems. In the United States, the word acupuncture refers more broadly to the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which includes the recommendation of Chinese herbal formulas, nutritional counseling, and manual therapies like cupping, gua sha (scrapping), and Tui na (therapeutic massage.)

Britton holds a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the highest-level credential available to practitioners of Chinese medicine in the United States. He is board certified in acupuncture and herbal medicine, holds licensure in New Hampshire and Vermont, and is a member of the Vermont Acupuncture Association and the New Hampshire Acupuncture and Asian Medicine Association. His research has been published in both Western and Chinese medical journals, and he lectures regularly on the subject of Chinese medicine.

Mitya Schoppe
(She/Her/Hers) DACM, BSN, LAc.

Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

Mitya began her career in medicine as a licensed massage therapist, then increased her scope with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She practiced nursing, primarily in rural New England, for over 20 years in the specialties of maternal-child care, chronic disease management, intensive care, and hospice.

Looking to build on her extensive experience, but transition to holistic medicine, she earned her doctorate with honors from Pacific College of Health Sciences, San Diego, in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, completing comprehensive training in acupuncture and Chinese medical herbology. She is nationally board-certified and licensed in Vermont, New Hampshire, and California.

She is Treasurer of the Vermont Acupuncture Association and a member of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. Mitya is dedicated to the integration of biomedicine and evidence-based Eastern modalities and to collaborating with her patients to achieve maximum wellness.

She enjoys treating patients of any age or condition, but her areas of particular interest are orthopedics and pain relief.

Mitya enjoys swimming, Qi Gong, Korean culture and food, and playing the occasional AAA video game with her son. She likes to travel though balanced with social and environmental justice as much as possible.
